Peppermint Bark
This is another recipe I make every Christmas, particularly as a gift for one of my good friends who loves it and requests it as a gift every year!
It is really easy and great for using up any old candy canes from last Christmas.
You will need:
1 block of white cooking chocolate
Candy canes
Unwrap the candy canes and place in a plastic bag. Smash the lollies up using a rolling pin or mallet. Set aside.
Line a flat baking tray with some baking paper.
Melt the chocolate in the microwave until smooth and glossy.
Then pour the chocolate onto the baking paper and use a spatula to spread it out.
Sprinkle the crushed candy canes over the tops and then refrigerate for an hour or 2.
Once set, you can break up the bark and store in a container in the fridge or wrap some in cellophane and it makes a great gift!

Hey mel
ReplyDeleteI've fallen off the wagon in regards to our spending
Wondered if you had some of your top budget living tips? Although we're doing fine financially atm I'm worried that without getting back on the thrifty living wagon we might not be! Maybe a blog post/Insta post?
Thanks Mel!!

Hi Caz! Absolutely. I've been thinking of writing one for a while, I'll do a blog post on it soon :)
DeleteAwesome! You say in posts about chopping and freezing your veggies (ie 5kg onions!) and I wonder how you store them. I think food/cooking is our biggest budgeting fail. We eat really well but I'm noticing how much we waste.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to reading your tips and getting some ideas on what to do
Cheers Mel!

Hey Caz,I sure do. A lot of the food I buy in bulk is stored in our freezers. So maybe a post on food waste then?
DeleteI have an empty freezer in our laundry! Yes I'd LOVE your food waste/food save tips and ideas. Thabks mel, I'd be super grateful!
